The government of Alberta recognizes the contribution that current and future immigrants make to Alberta's economy and have demonstrated their commitment to facilitating full utilization of immigrant education, skills and experience by initiating the Foreign Qualification Recognition Plan for Alberta (FQR Plan).
As part of the implementation of the FQR Plan, launched in 2008, the FQR Innovation Fund is being offered by the government to assist Alberta employers to recruit, integrate, retain and develop workers with foreign-earned education, skills and experience who are already in the province. The Innovation Fund supports sustainable projects that help eliminate barriers faced by internationally educated professionals and tradespeople and projects that demonstrate innovation, creativity, and the development of best practices.
The priorities for the 2012 fund are projects that help foreign-trained workers within Alberta to fully use their education, skills and experience to meet the province's labour market needs.
Read the 2012 FQR Innovation Fund Criteria for more information about the funding objectives and the application process.
The Application for Grant template needs to be submitted with all proposals. The deadline to submit a proposal is Thursday, August 9, 2012.
All applications will be reviewed by an Innovation Fund Review Committee and funding will be awarded based on the identified priorities and available funds. All applicants will receive a letter detailing the decision of their submission by September 28, 2012.
