The CHRP designation requires that candidates complete a recognized degree prior to being certified. Your degree may or may not be an HR degree but it must come from any recognized degree-granting institution including a university, university-college or technical institution.
Foreign degrees deemed equivalent to Canadian standards via the Alberta Government’s International Qualification Assessment Service are accepted.
Many individuals come in to the field of HR from another area of specialization. If this has been your experience, then we recommend you consider an HR Certificate program to help you in gaining the academic knowledge of foundations in human resources that will be tested through the National Knowledge Exam (NKE).
If you already have an HR degree and are interested in furthering your knowledge in advanced topics in human resources, you may want to consider graduate studies or a specialist designation.
Many post-secondary institutions offer certificate and degree programs related to human resources. A wide variety of options are also available for classroom and online learning. The following is sample list of programs. Check with your local post-secondary institution for more information.
