National Knowledge Exam

The National Knowledge Exam ® (NKE) consists of 150 multiple choice questions. Each question lists four possible answers, only one of which is correct. The exam is based on academic knowledge of major human resources functions. The passing grade is different for each exam session.

CCHRA reserves the right to change the exam at any time as part of a continuous exam improvement program. Recognizing the desire for exam writers to know what the exam is like, CCHRA will give as much advance notice as possible.

National exams are offered every May and October. You must register for the National Knowledge Exam ® (NKE) and the National Professional Practice Assessment ® (NPPA) separately. After successfully passing the NKE, you can then register for the NPPA.

Please note: Once you have passed the NKE, you have up to 5 years to pass the NPPA.
