Examinations

The CHRP examinations are based on the HR Body of Knowledge developed by the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations.  The HR Body of Knowledge outlines the Required Professional Capabilities for HR professionals in today’s workforce.

This knowledge is tested through two examinations, the National Knowledge Exam® (NKE) and the National Professional Practice Assessment®(NPPA). Please note that the NPPA will be phased out after it is administered in October 2012 and June 2013.  It will be replaced with an Experience Validation Assessment which will be implemented January 1, 2013.  CHRP Candidates will have the option of using either the NPPA or the Experience Validation Assessment until the exam is phased out.

The National Knowledge Exam® (NKE) is a multiple-choice theory based exam designed to test your academic knowledge of human resources management.  The National Professional Practice Assessment®(NPPA) is a multiple-choice, scenario-based exam that tests your professional judgment of situations related to the HR Body of Knowledge.

CHRP examinations are developed by the Exam Board, comprised of psychometricians and HR subject matter experts from post-secondary institutions across Canada.
