HRIA is incorporated under the Alberta Societies Act as a non-profit society.

HRIA bylaws comply with requirements of the Act.

In addition, in order to support mobility of the designation across Canada, HRIA contributes to and complies with the National Certification Guidelines established by the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations.

In October of 2010, the HRIA proposed new Bylaws and asked the Certified Membership to vote on these Bylaws.  In January of 2011, the new Bylaws were approved by an 86.5% vote in favour.  The current Bylaws can be viewed by clicking on the link below.
