Transfers to/from another Province

• Transfers from/to another Province

  The CCHRA requires that persons holding the CHRP designation or CHRP Candidate Status must maintain membership in the association responsible for CHRP certification in their province of residence.
  
  When a HRIA member holding the CHRP designation or the CHRP Candidate Status moves to another province, they are required to transfer their designation or status to the association responsible for CHRP certification in their new province of residence. You must be a member in good standing with the HRIA in order to transfer your designation or status to another province. An official transfer form must be submitted to the HRIA prior to the change in residence. The HRIA will forward the transfer form to the new association, and the new association will complete the CHRP designee’s enrolment as a professional member in their province.
  
  Please note that it is your responsibility to obtain membership in the new association; provincial membership is not transferable.
  
  A Transfer Fee of $ 25.00+GST is payable to the HRIA. Login and click on the Transfer CHRP Designation link.
  
  Persons holding the CHRP designation or CHRP Candidate Status that move into the province of Alberta are required to apply for membership, concurrent to the transfer of their designation or CHRP Candidate Status from their former provincial association. Your provincial HR association membership is non transferable.
  
  Please note that any lapse in membership longer than 30 days between the expiry of a former provincial membership and granting of membership in the HRIA may result in the revocation of the transferee’s designation or CHRP Candidate Status.
  
  The HRIA prorates membership dues and does not charge an application fee for transferring members.
  
  Exception
  When a HRIA member holding the CHRP designation or CHRP Candidate Status resides in another province for a limited time while maintaining their residency in Alberta, transfer of their designation is not required.

   

Retirement

• Retirement

  The Retired status is only available to CHRPs who have fully retired from human resources practice, and no longer actively use their designation for work purposes.
  
  If you meet the requirements for Retired status, please send a request to the office at info@hria.ca prior to your CHRP expiry date. This status relieves members from the requirement of paying annual dues (subject to change) and of recertifying at three-year intervals.
  
  

Deferral Process

• Deferral Process

  1.	Prior to the exam registration deadline, you may choose to either cancel your exam registration or defer to the next examination date. After the exam registration deadline has past, you cannot cancel your exam registration, you must defer to the next exam sitting. If you choose not to defer, you will be considered a "no show" for the exam and you will forfeit your exam fee.
  2.	If you wish to defer writing an exam, you must submit a deferral application form. Up to 30 days before the exam date, you may defer without a deferral fee. Within 30 days of the exam date, you may defer the exam but will be charged a deferral fee of $100 + GST, except in cases of illness or bereavement (official verification required). Please login into your HRIA account and click on the Exam Deferral link to submit a deferral form online and pay the deferral fee if applicable.
  3.	The HRIA will review the deferral application and determine whether you qualify based on illness, bereavement or other special circumstances.
  4.	Once your application for deferral has been approved, you will be registered for the next exam sitting.
  5.	Within 7 days calendar days of the exam date, deferrals are not allowed unless there is verified proof of extenuating circumstances such as serious illness or loss of immediate family.
  6.	Registrants who defer to a future sitting and then cancel their registration any time prior to this sitting will forfeit their initial exam fee plus any deferral fee paid.
  7.	A maximum of two deferrals are allowed per exam.

Revocation

• Revocation

  The CHRP designation and HRIA membership can be denied or revoked for any of the following reasons:
  
  

  • Falsification or misrepresentation of professional employment experience or other information on any membership, certification/recertification or assessment applications or submitted documents to provincial HR associations, IBE, or other regulatory bodies.
    
    
  • Failure to adhere to the National Code of Ethics.
    
    
  • Failure to renew provincial HR association membership.
    
    
  • Violation of testing procedures.
    
    
  • Failure to pass the certification assessments.
    
    
  • Failure to meet recertification requirements.
