National Knowledge Exam The National Knowledge Exam ® (NKE) consists of 150 multiple choice questions. Each question lists four possible answers, only one of which is correct. The exam is based on academic knowledge of major human resources functions. The passing grade is 70%.
Recognizing the desire for exam writers to know what the exam is like, CCHRA reserves the right to change the exam at any time as part of a continuous exam improvement program. CCHRA will give as much advance notice as possible
National exams are offered every May and October. You must register for the National Knowledge Exam ® (NKE) and the National Professional Practice Assessment ® (NPPA) separately. After successfully passing the NKE, you can then register for the NPPA. Please note: Once you have passed the NKE, you have up to 5 years to pass the NPPA. | Dates | October 2, 2010

If you are an Associate Member, please login to your Member Profile to register for the National Knowledge Exam. IMPORTANT CHANGE - NEW DEGREE REQUIREMENT AS OF JANUARY 1, 2011 As of January 1, 2011, CHRP Candidates – those who have passed the National Knowledge Exam ® (NKE) - will require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in order to register for the National Professional Practice Assessment ® and qualify for the CHRP designation. NEW: The CCHRA approves a one-time exception to the requirement to any CHRP Candidate who has attempted the National Professional Practice Assessment® (NPPA) at least once prior to December 31, 2010. If you do not pass the NPPA before this date, you will be granted a chance to re-write the exam, even if you do not have a degree. However, this exception is only valid for the May 2011 NPPA session.
