About HRIA
Association Overview

The Human Resources Institute of Alberta (HRIA) is the professional voice of human resources practitioners in Alberta. With more than 4,000 members throughout the province, the HRIA is the not-for-profit professional association dedicated to strenthening and promoting the profession of human resources. The HRIA encourages the maintenance of professional standards in the field of human resources management and works with the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA) to define the standards and processes for certification as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).

Governed by a board of directors consisting of both elected and appointed members, the HRIA actively promotes the use of the professional designation and encourages hiring practices that recognize the CHRP certification. In addition, the HRIA serves as a spokesperson on human resources issues in the province of Alberta and represents the membership on issues at the provincial, national and international level.

The HRIA is a founding member of the CCHRA, representing more than 30,000 HR professionals across Canada. Through the CCHRA, the HRIA is affiliated with the North American Human Resource Management Association and the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations, representing more than 400,000 people management professionals.
